Kaipola/Pazham Pola/ Iftar Special Snack / Banana Cake

Kaipola/Pazham pola, also known as banana cake or steamed plantain cake, is one of the most authentic Malabar dishes. The dish is a sweet combination of egg and banana. Kaipola, the quick and easy recipe, is a specialty of Kerala, most specifically among the Muslim community in the state.

INGREDIENTS
Ripe banana – 2 ( 400gms)
Eggs – 3
Sugar – 3 to 4 tbsp
Ghee as needed
Cardamom – 3
Milk – 2 tbsp
Salt a pinch
Cashew nuts
Raisins
Method
  • Cut the banana into small pieces.
  • Heat ghee in a pan and saute cashews and raisins. Keep it aside.
  • Now add 2-3tsp ghee and saute bananas.
  • Mix together egg, sugar, milk, cardamom powder and salt using a mixer grinder. Add sauted bananas, cashews, and raisins.
  • Keep a dosa tava on the flame grease the pan in which you are going to make the dish and place on top of dosa tawa. When it heats up pour in the batter.cover and cook in medium flame for about 30 mins. If you to change the colour of the top part flip the cake and cook for another 5 mins.
  • Easy and tasty kaipola /pazham pola is now ready to be served. Serve hot with tea.
