Eggless Rava/Semolina Cake

Eggless Semolina Cake is very easy to prepare and is healthy too as it requires a minimal amount of maida. This cake is very soft and is very tasty too.


Semolina – 2 Cups
Milk – 1 &1/3 Cups
Maida – 1/2 Cup
Baking Powder – 1 Tsp
Baking Soda – 1/2 Tsp
Lemon Juice – 1 Tsp
Oil – 1/2 Cup
Sugar – 1 & ½ Cup


Preheat oven for 10 minutes. Prepare an 8 inch baking tin by lining it with butter paper.
Grind Semolina in a grinder to make a smooth powder.

In a bowl add the powdered Semolina and 1 cup milk and mix well. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Prepare buttermilk by adding lemon juice in 1/3 cup milk and stir.

Sieve together, Maida, Baking Powder, and Baking soda. Keep it aside.

Now add Oil and Sugar into the Soaked Semolina and mix well. Fold in the dry ingredients little by little. Now add buttermilk and fold in gently.

Pour the batter in the prepared baking tin. Tap it twice to release excess air bubbles. Bake the cake in preheated oven for 45 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

You can also bake this cake in stovetop by preheating the Utensil or Kadai for 10 minutes before baking. Put a stand on the Kadai or the utensil and keep the baking tray on the stand. Cover it tightly and bake in low flame for 30 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Let the cake remain in the cake tin for 15 minutes before de molding. De mold the cake by running a knife round the edges.

The very healthy Eggless Semolina cake is ready!! Enjoy with a cup of Tea.
