Beef Ularthiyathu/Beef dry Roast- Kerala Style beef Roast

Beef Ularthiyathu/Beef dry Roast is a common dish in Kerala. Nadan Beef Ularthiyathu /Beef Olathiyathu  are  the most popular items in  most thattukadas. This is a spicy nadan Beef  preparation which goes well with appam, parotta, puttu, and chappathi. Try out this recipes and Let me know how you like it.

Ingredients

Beef – ½ kg ( cut into small pieces)

Chilli powder – 2 Tsp

Pepper powder – 1 Tsp

Turmeric powder – ½ Tsp

Garam masala – 1 Tsp

Meat Masala – 1 TBS

Coriander powder – 2 TBS

Ginger – 2 big pieces

Garlic – 1 full

Onion – 1

Tomato- 1

Curry leaves

Salt – as per taste

Coconut pieces – ½ cup

Coconut oil –

Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon

Method

  • Clean & drain the water from beef pieces.
  • Marinate beef with Chilli powder ,Pepper powder,Turmeric powder ,Garam masala ,Meat Masala,Coriander powder,Ginger  &Garlic.
  • Pressure cook the marinated beef with ¼ cup water for 4-5 whitstles
  • Once the pressure drops, open the cooker and cook the beef on low flame till the gravy dries completely.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds & add curry leaves. Saute  chopped onion till it becomes transparent. Add chopped Tomato and saute.
  • Add the cooked beef & stir until it becomes dark brown colour.

Beef Roast is now ready to serve. Enjoy with Rice,Chapatti,Kappa/Tappioca etc…
