Chicken Biriyani

A very simple and easy Biriyani Recipes.
Ingredients
  • Chicken - ½ kg
  • Basmathi rice- 2 cup
  • Onion -2 chopped
  • Tomato- 2 chopped
  • Green chilly and Mint leaves paste- 3-4 tbsp
  • Curry leaves-3
  • Ginger garlic paste- 3-4 tsp
  • Dalda
  • Ghee- 3 tbsp
  • Oil
  • Corriander powder- 2 tbsp
  • Chilli powder - 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  • cardamon- 4-5
  • cloves-10 nos
  • cinnamon- 3 pieces
  • Salt- to taste
  • Water
Instructions
  1. Wash the biriyani rice and drain of the excess water.
  2. Chop the onion ,tomato and keep it aside.
  3. Grind together green chillies and mint leaves and keep it aside.
  4. Melt dalda and ghee in a heavy bottom pan.Saute cinnamon,cloves ,and cardamon until they begin to sizzle.
  5. Add chopped oinion and curry leaves and saute till they turn transparent.
  6. Add ginger garlic paste into this and saute until the raw smell goes .
  7. Add mint leaves and green chilli paste and saute.
  8. Add corriander powder,Chilli powder and turmeric powder and saute till the raw smell goes.
  9. Add the chopped tomato and saute till it is combined properly.
  10. Add required salt. Add 3-4 tbsp oil into this and mix well
  11. Now add chicken pieces and mix properly
  12. Add enough water( 4 cups) and mix cover and cook and bring to boil.
  13. Now add the rice.
  14. Cover and cook till the water is completly absorbed.Check in between. Put some live coal( thee kanal) on top of the lid and cook for few minutes on low flame. check in between.
  15. Serve hot with Salad, pappad,Pickle and chutney.
Notes
The quantity of water is double the quantity of rice taken ie, for 2 cups rice we take 4 cups water.
Instead of using live coal( Kanal) you could place a pan of boiling water on top of the lid.
