Avalose Unda/Roasted Rice powder Snack-Traditional Kerala Snack

Ingredients
  • Avalose podi-3 cups appox.
  • Jaggery-1½ cup
  • Water -1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder-1 tblspn
  • Avalose podi-1/2 cup for rolling balls
Instructions
  1. Melt the jaggery with water.
  2. Strain the impurities and pour the melted jaggery in to a heavy bottom pan.
  3. Boil the mixture until it reaches one string consistency.
  4. Remove from heat immediately and add the avalose podi little by little.
  5. Mix until combined.Start making balls using hands.Be quick to make balls otherwise the mixture will become hard.
  6. Place the balls in to avalose podi and roll them gently.Shake off excess podi.Let it cool and serve with a cup of tea.You can store it in air tight containers.
